NO...it does not taste like avocado; that would be weird!
Avocado leaf tea is another "up and coming" star in the world of herbs. It's rumored that the list of health benefits is quite impressive: regulating blood glucose, improves kidney function and treats kidney stones, improves digestive health, and can also help with high blood pressure. As always, check with your doctor before using herbs for supplements.
Now onto the good stuff! As I said, it doesn't taste like avocado. If I had to compare it to a regular tea, I would say that it is just slightly similar to a green tea. It has some buttery and vegetal notes, but on a much lighter level than a green tea. It's actually really good. It's a light, golden brew and is nice with a little honey.
The recommended steep time is three minutes which, is what I did with my first brew. It was a bit too mild for my personal taste so, the next cup, I did for six minutes. This had a bit more strength, better flavor, and no bitterness. The great thing is, you can steep to your liking without having to worry about it getting bitter or stringent. AND, you can use your tea bag TWICE and get the same strength on the second round!
Give this tea a try. It's naturally caffeine free so, you can enjoy any time of day, hot or cold. Available in flavored blends, too!
