I was gifted 5 fun lattes from the team at Copper Cup. I usually only review one product per post, but I wanted to put them all into one for this review because I would hate for you to miss any of them. So, all five reviews…right here…right now. And, when you’re finished reading about this deliciousness, please go to their site (link at bottom) and read their story. I encourage you to always support small business!
Copper Cup Lattes are instant mixes. Never be afraid of instant…there’s lots of good ones out there. With instant teas, no ingredients are left behind in the tea bag or infuser…you get it all!
Choco Latte Mix-HAPPY DANCE! First, I must tell you, my darling doctor has me dieting to lose a few pounds AND lower my cholesterol. So…no chocolate, no sugar. This latte was the perfect fix. It’s a fine, smooth powder mix that blended easily with hot water. A squeeze of honey and a splash of almond milk and this was as good as a cup of hot chocolate. I love a pure cacao tea, but it’s not for everyone due to it’s bitterness. The banana and vanilla in this mix TOTALLY smooth out the pungent flavor of the cacao. Cacao has minerals and antioxidants and with added moringa (a superfood) this latte is loaded with health benefits and it has an amazing flavor! Cacao tea always gives me a nice boost without the caffeine…WIN!
Turmeric Latte- Turmeric is a popular craze and, for good reason. I add a tiny scoop to my coffee grounds in the morning (yes, I drink coffee too) because I’d rather not take the capsules. This latte has a conglomeration of flavor: lightly sweet, peppery, savory-ish (if that makes sense), with that golden-earthy-goodness you’d expect from turmeric. If you’ve ever had golden milk, imagine it with a hint of black pepper. YES, black pepper! I discussed black pepper in a previous review and it’s my new favorite thing to add to spicy loose blends. It enhances the flavors in this latte and it aids digestion. Turmeric fights inflammation (I can attest to that) and has a long list of other health benefits. This latte is a fun way to get a daily dose of turmeric in a flavorful, healthy cup of tea!
Red Latte- If I had to suggest a product to try first from Copper Cup, this would be my recommendation. Red is sassy and my friends, let me tell you, THE SASS IS STRONG IN THIS ONE. You can almost always count on getting antioxidants from red fruits and vegetables. The blend of beets, raspberries and Schisandra fruit in this latte gives you just that PLUS, reduces stress levels and boosts energy. The best surprise in this latte is the presence of cayenne pepper; that’s what adds the “sassy” to this latte. The heat hits your tongue right away, but don’t be scared! Even if you’re not a fan of spicy foods (I am), the vanilla and coconut milk smooth it out and it fades quickly. This latte is perfectly balanced as far as flavor goes. Mixed with a little honey and almond milk, it’s a delicious way to get some serious health benefits. Polish those nails red, put on some red heels, and get your “sass” on with this amazing latte!
Green Latte-So many healthy things happening in this latte. Chlorella and spirulina are algae that are packed with nutrients. They have benefits ranging from cell protection to healthy bacteria for your gut. Wheatgrass is also full of nutrients and antioxidants…rumor has it, it reduces cholesterol! This latte has an interesting flavor that may not be for everyone. Personally, I enjoyed it very much, but I love a good “green” drink. The algae is very much an acquired taste, but if you like seaweed, this will be a hit for you! The ginseng and ginger are not very noticeable until the finish, but you still get that spicy tingle that comes with that combo. Even if you’re not a fan of the chlorella and spirulina flavor, I wouldn’t discourage you from trying this latte. Throw a scoop into a cucumber lime green smoothie with a little honey. It’s worth the try!
Black Sesame Latte- I did a “thing” with this one. Keep reading…you’re gonna want to try this. This latte mix has a very savory aroma; that comes from the mix of ginger, ginseng, and black sesame seeds. Black sesame has a huge list of benefits and for me, attempting to reduce my cholesterol, the healthy fats and fiber are the top contenders. Now, hear me out: this latte wasn’t for me; it was weaker than what I hoped for. But, that’s on me. Whatever I’m brewing…tea, espresso, coffee, latte (bourbon, vodka), l like it very strong. Couple things: I NEVER give negative reviews and I NEVER waste my free samples. Challenge accepted! Sesame seeds are heavy so, they sink. When I finished my cup of latte, there was a nice puddle of ground, black sesame at the bottom of my cup. Pour it out? Wash it down the drain? I think not! I got a spoonful to taste the yumminess and this is where the magic started. I had and idea and just enough latte mix in my sampler to make it happen. I will suspend those sesame seeds! And…black sesame chia pudding was born. Sesame seeds have kind of a chewy texture and I immediately thought of my favorite snack. Guess what? It came out PERFECT! Pour ¼ cup of almond milk (or whatever milk you like), 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, and 1 tablespoon of Black Sesame Latte mix. Mix well and leave out at room temp, stirring every few minutes to break up clumps until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the mixture has thickened. Stir in a little agave syrup or honey to taste and VOILA! Perfection. Savory sweetness in my favorite snack with extra benefits!
One last little tidbit in this extra long review: if the earthy or spicy flavors in these lattes don’t appeal to you, try throwing a scoop in your favorite smoothie to get all the healthy goodness!
