D's Tea

Before I start, I have to tell you this: these are the cutest dang tea bags I’ve ever seen! Little hand tied bundles of glorious tea! I received three sweet samples from D’s Tea in a little box that read “Hey, I got something for ya…”. ADORABLE PACKAGING! And, a sassy little slogan to go along with it…

I’m gonna run down all three in this review so that you don’t miss anything. All three samples included ginger and turmeric in the mix. Bonus points for my favorite earthy-spicy blend!

Light Weight- I had this tea after lunch and I feel like it was super helpful with my digestion. This blend includes cinnamon and fennel seeds. Fennel seeds are said to jumpstart gastric enzymes that assist with digestion and have numerous other benefits for your whole digestive tract. I didn’t notice a strong fennel flavor or aroma but I’m ok with that since I’m not a huge fan of it. But, the added cinnamon gave a nice balanced spice. This tea/tisane is easily an all day sip, even with the spicy cinnamon and ginger, it’s still a mild tea. I’m betting this would be a great choice to settle your belly when you overdo it at the dinner table!

Sweet Hibiscus Nights- There is some magic witchcrafty tea business going on in my cup with this one. Rich red color and tart-bittersweet notes from elderberries. Not something that I would have thought to mix with ginger and turmeric, but it works beautifully! I must admit, I had to do a little research and learn something new about one of the ingredients. Astragulus root! I certainly hope this is on the most recent “superfoods” list! From boosting your immune system to fighting stress and promoting restful sleep (and a long list of other benefits in between), this magical component will be added to my list of healthy teas. I’m not sure what flavor astragulus root contributes but, if I had to guess, it’s the mildly sweet note that sort of reminds me of the sweetness from licorice root…but not as pungent. This was a nighttime choice to taste and review. Either I’m extremely tired or this tea has me totally chilled out. I do believe I’ll be ordering this in a large quantity. I’ll do anything for a good night’s sleep!

Ginger Spiced Wood- I actually tested this one first and it’s my absolute favorite of the three samples. I can’t explain it to you any better than what the name says; it’s exactly that! The ginger and turmeric give their notorious savory, earthy-spice and the bitter-sweetness of the elderberries round it out nicely. This one will be on my order as well…I’m thinking I need to infuse some into a nice woody, red wine! Dare ya to try that!

While communicating with D’s Tea, I learned that this is a new business. As usual, I encourage you to support small business...especially NEW small businesses.
