So, I'll start by telling you this: my husband does not have the same love for tea as I do. He's a southern boy; tea is "sweet tea", period. Occasionally he'll have a hot toddy with a healthy shot of whiskey if he's feeling under the weather.
HOWEVER...I do know what he likes and I had a strong feeling he would like this particular tea. I WAS RIGHT! I had mentioned that I wanted him to try it and before he could reject me, I had a batch made up and ready to drink.
If you read my previous review on another tea by Oonyall, you'll know that this is a CTC style "chaya podi" tea; sometimes called "tea dust". I prepared this one the same way that I did the Kalavai: boil the milk and water, simmer the tea and spices, strain and sweeten with brown sugar. I explained to my husband that it almost had a chocolate-coffee-ish note. HE LIKES IT!
This Darmona tea seems a bit more bold than the Kalavai that I previously tried and it's very good. Despite the fact that I normally don't use CTC teas and rarely use brown sugar, this tea has become a favorite for me; especially on the weekends when don't have to worry about caffeine interfering with my sleep.
I highly recommend trying this tea. I rarely follow instructions when brewing my tea, but I suggest making this by the directions on the package to get a perfect result. If you love a rich, sweet, creamy chai...you will LOVE these teas from Oonyall.
