I don't even know where to begin with this tea!
Mint is not my normal go-to tea unless I'm soothing an upset tummy. And, I almost never go for anything spicy in the summertime. Well, this tea has the best of both worlds and I'm not sorry I brewed a big mug of it, right in the heat of a Texas summer. This tea was included in my July SipsBy box and I'd be fine if they threw this one in there every month!
The green tea is beautifully blended with ginger root, peppermint, cardamom, licorice root, fennel seed, cloves, and black pepper...all organic. The aroma is absolutely mesmerizing and so soothing.
I love to make a latte with spicy tea and chai blends so, I added a splash of half and half since that was all I had to work with at the office. A coworker was talking to me when I took the first sip and the look on my face had her curious enough to try a sip. She's not a "tea person" and she was impressed!
Every single ingredient stands out in this tea as a whole and they are more noticeable individually as it cools down. I was very surprised and impressed with the presence of the black pepper as well (so much that, I'd consider shaking a coarse ground pinch into my spicy blends); it gives the tea a nice peppery finish. The buttery green tea was perfectly matched to this delicious blend.
I never mind paying a premium price for good tea. Rishi offers several sizes from "teaser" up to a full pound. Don't let the price tag scare you! A full pound of tea gets you around 100 cups...you can't even get a glass of Texas sweet tea for $0.35! I'll be purchasing a full pound and I'll drink this any time of the year. This is by far, one of the best spicy teas I've had in a long time. Worth every penny.
Head over to their site to check out Maghreb Mint and many other teas they offer. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
