Organic Sunset by Tea Sparrow

Herbal/Rooibos blend

This might be my new favorite afternoon tea. It reminds me of so many delicious things. And, the calendula petals are so pretty against the rich color of the rooibos.

The almond and vanilla flavors in the ingredients are a combination that I would normally think of as “warming” or a cold-weather tea. This blend quickly changed my mind! Of course, I drank it hot (with a drop of agave) but, I’ll be brewing a cup over ice very soon.

The steaming aroma reminds me of fresh almond biscotti which, I love to have with tea. The vanilla is as potent as freshly split Madagascan vanilla bean pods. The two together remind me of a chewy ricciarelli (Italian almond cookie-also excellent with tea). Now, I’m getting hungry!

I steeped the loose-leaf blend in my own tea bag, and the 5-6 minutes suggested time was perfect. It produced a nice, "reddish" liqueur. The flavor was very much like a good, quality amaretto. I’m already thinking of ways to make this into a tea cocktail!

I must add that not only is the service from Tea Sparrow very fast but, their packaging is completely adorable for these tea boxes. There’s a little note inside that tells you about the teas in the box and on the inside flap has a chart that has brewing instructions for different types of teas as well as a few pointers. Perfect for the beginner tea drinker and handy for even the most seasoned “tea people”. They are very generous portions for a “sample” size of tea; this particular packet will get you 4…maybe 5 cups.

Follow the link below to visit their website. There’s lots of tempting choices in the store but if you’re looking for a recommendation to get you started, try the Organic Sunset.
